About head-to-head records

A head-to-head record is the history of every meeting between two clubs or national teams. Pick two sides and this page rebuilds their full meeting history — every result, the goals each side scored, and how the balance of wins has shifted over the chosen date range.

Raw win counts flatter whoever played more matches, so the summary splits results by venue as well. A team with a strong overall record that has won nothing away from home tells a very different story than the aggregate suggests — which is why the home and away breakdowns sit alongside the totals rather than folded into them.

Both domestic clubs and national teams are covered. National sides meet far less often, so widening the date range usually matters more there than it does for league rivals who play twice a season.
