About team form

This page follows a single team through its matches, with the same filters available elsewhere applied to that team alone — results, goals, clean sheets, and the period you care about.

Form is mostly a question of window size. Ten matches smooths out the noise of any single bad afternoon; five is sharper but swings hard on one result. Neither is correct in isolation, which is why the date range is a filter rather than a fixed setting.

Home and away splits are worth checking separately here too. Teams that are structurally different in the two settings are common, and a combined record hides exactly the pattern you are usually looking for.

What the data covers

The filters here are the same ones the Game Statistics Explorer uses, and so are their limits. The score, the date and the competition exist for every match; half-time scores are missing for a share of them, so the Half-Time filters quietly exclude those games. Shots, corners, fouls, possession and passing are recorded mainly for more recent seasons and the larger competitions, with possession and passing the thinnest of the set. Red cards are logged far less often than yellows.

The rule underneath all of it: a missing value excludes the match from a range filter rather than counting as zero. For a single team this bites harder than it does league-wide — a side whose older matches carry only a score will simply drop out of any filter on detailed statistics, which can make a long date range look emptier than the team’s actual record.
