Starting With Europe's Big Six Leagues

In my first post I talked about why I built Smart Soccer Stats. Now let's talk about where I'm starting.

The big six, on day one

Rather than spreading myself thin across dozens of competitions, I chose to launch with six of Europe's most-followed top divisions:

• Premier League — England
• Serie A — Italy
• La Liga — Spain
• Bundesliga — Germany
• Ligue 1 — France
• Primeira Liga — Portugal

These leagues offer a deep, reliable pool of matches, rich history, and the kind of week-in, week-out drama that makes streaks and trends worth tracking.

Why start small?

It would have been tempting to launch with everything at once. But the numbers are only as good as the data behind them. By focusing on six leagues first, I can make sure every stat — every unbeaten run, every clean-sheet streak, every head-to-head record — is as accurate and properly contextualized as possible before I scale. I draw on reliable, verified sources and do my best to get every detail right, but I'm realistic too: errors and omissions can still slip through, and I'd rather be upfront about that than pretend the numbers are flawless.

Quality first. A wrong streak is worse than no streak at all.

What's next

This is just the starting line. I already have plans to add more leagues — additional divisions, and competitions further afield — as the site grows. I'll announce each new addition right here on the blog.
