One Source: Unified Match Stats and Betting Odds

announcementdata

I've been busy under the hood, and this is one of those changes that doesn't look like much on the surface but changes almost everything underneath. As of today, Smart Soccer Stats runs on a single, unified data source — and that unlocks a few things I've wanted for a while.

Extra stats, leagues and national teams together

Until now, the deeper match statistics lived in slightly different shapes depending on whether you were looking at a league fixture or a national-team game. That's gone. The additional match statistics for league games and national-team games are now merged into one consistent format, so the same details show up in the same place no matter which competition you're looking at.

One layout, one set of expectations — whether you're reading a Premier League midweek game or a World Cup knockout tie.

Betting odds from the Round of 16 onward

I've also added betting odds, available from the Round of 16 (the last 16) onward. That's the stretch of a tournament where every match matters most, and where the pre-game numbers tell the most interesting story about who the market actually favors.

As always, these are here as context — a snapshot of expectation to compare against what really happened, not a nudge toward anything.

Why this matters: one source of truth

The bigger news is the plumbing. Everything now flows from one single data source instead of being stitched together from several. That means:

  • More consistency — the same fields, formats, and naming everywhere.
  • Easier maintenance — one place to fix things, one place to improve them.
  • Faster features — new ideas are far quicker to build when the data behind them already lines up.

More on the way

Consolidating onto one source clears the runway for a lot of the things I've had on my list. Expect more improvements to land — and to land more smoothly — over the coming weeks.

As always, if there's a stat or feature you'd love to see next, tell me. Enjoy!
